Gifted Gorgeousness March 2016 - It's a Finish!

Hello everyone!

As it's the 15th it's time for the Gifted Gorgeousness check in hosted by the lovely Jo at Serendipitous Stitching.

The idea is you work on something that is a gift in some way, it could be the fabric/floss/chart was gifted to you or the final product is intended for a gift.

This year so far I have had to get the good old shoehorn out and be creative, stating this piece is for my future married self. Well that will come to an end with this check in as I have a finish!!!

Yippee!!!

Vault Boy & Girl by HappyStitchNet on Etsy
Stitched two over two on 28ct Lugana in Oatmeal by Crafty Kitten Fabrics
Start Date: 2nd January 2016
End Date: 14th March 2016

I'm so pleased with the final result! I know it's not a "traditional" wedding sampler but it is very us, we are gamer geeks to the core and if it wasn't for computer games we would never have met! I now just need to find the perfect frame then it can take pride of place in our geek room :)

For the next few months at least the GG Sal should be easier for me, as my next main project will be a baby sampler for some good friends of mine who are expecting, I just have to get the supplies together so I can begin.

Speaking of which, my evenweave of choice is Lugana but I am struggling to find just some plain white! Do any of you stitch on Jazlyn or Jobelan? What are your thoughts? How do they compare to Lugana?

Until next time!

Emma xo

  1. Great finish and all the more special because fits you both. I'm no help between the fabrics. I'm not sure I could tell the difference.

  2. What a great finish!
I use Jobelan quite often, it's a lovely fabric to stitch on

  3. I'm with Kerry - can't tell the difference between any of the fabrics! Could you have a look at them in a shop before buying?
Great finish - I've no idea who the characters are but it's a sweet non-traditional design for a wedding sampler.

  4. Congrats on the finish!! So perfect for you guys.

I know I stitch on Jobelan I just couldn't tell you the difference. One has a softer feel to it but evenweave is evenweave to me haha. Good luck finding what you need.

  6. Congratulations on your finish. Not too long now until the Big Day!
I can't help you out on the fabric I'm afraid. The only evenweave I use is 32ct Murano which is gorgeous stitch on. :)

  7. Excellent finish! Congrats! I like Lugana a lot as well. Jobelan is my next favourite and Jazlyn after that. The Jazlyn I've used seemed to be difficult to get a clean hole without grabbing stray fabric threads.

I have just used jobelan on my March Joful World SAL, I am not a fan of jazlyn.

  11. I love your finish! My husband and I are also huge gamers, and we are happily raising a little boy who loves to game too. We all have our own favourite genres, though, so it can get expensive!

While I generally prefer lugana, jazlyn and jobelan are nice too. I don't think there is really much of a difference, I'm just partial to lugana because it is what I always use. ;)

  15. Thanks for taking part in GG this month. The wedding "sampler" looks great and is perfect for you two.
I'm with Rachel, Murano all the way! It's a nice dense fabric and you get really good coverage.
There are two packs of 28 count on the table near me right now, and they are both Jobelan. So it's good for me too! But I'm usually stitching over one on 28.

  19. Yay the blue didn't drive you crazy haha! And it looks totally awesome!! It's great to be geeky! :D If it weren't for anime, my husband and I would've never met.

I've only dealt with jobelan so far so I cannot compare it to lugana. I find it's very soft (almost to the point of slippery) and frays if I so much as look at it wrong! I use fabric glue on the edges. However, it really is a joy to stitch on once the frays are under control. I don't think I would like to do fractional stitches on it though.

  20. Congrats on the finish! It looks awesome. And I personally prefer Jobelan to Jazlyn - I feel like Jazlyn is a little too soft. Good luck!

  22. That's an adorable wedding piece. So much fun to pick something that means a lot to both of you.

I've never stitched with Jazlyn, but I like Jobelan and Lugana equally. I usually pick whichever one has the color I'm looking for. Jobelan drapes a bit more, but really it's 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other as far as I'm concerned.
